• Be selective about the sites you are linking to, sites with higher PR is advisable. Linking to spam site cause your site to be considered spamming too & affect negatively to the health of your site.
  
• Using appropriate keywords while hyper linking is must and ads positive result.
  
• Build a separate page for outbound links because sometimes those cause dilution of self page rank.
• Take care that such actions will be done sparingly otherwise it will be considered as link farming or Black hat SEO
